I am a creative individual with a passion for the written word and visual design.
My name is Jessica Welner. I am a recent graduate from the University of Central Florida (UCF) with a bachelor of arts degree in Writing and Rhetoric and a minor in Mass Media.
Since I began my journey at UCF two years ago, I have discovered new passions as a writer and creator. I discovered the editing community on Instagram back in 2017. During my first year at UCF, I stumbled upon the photo editing community within Instagram. Photo editing led me to experiment with graphic editing as well as video editing. Considering my time spent creating content for Instagram, it’s important to note that I learned how to engage and interact with my followers, build an online brand, and increase engagement.
On another note, my passion for writing was strengthened even more throughout my time as a Writing and Rhetoric major at UCF. I discovered my newfound passion for entertainment writing. This led me to working with Hollywood Insider in the summer of 2021. I was an entertainment writer where I wrote articles based on film, television, and music. During my time there, I learned the importance of back-linking. This is linking your own content within your own content.
Likewise, I found a love for the world of digital publishing. One of my first courses called Writing for Publication opened my eyes to this world of publishing and I was immediately hooked. I admire how magazines are able to connect with readers.
Similarly, web design has become a huge passion of mine. I have become knowledgable about WordPress and how to make a website visually dynamic and easy to navigate. I have also gotten into graphic design. I create logos, banners, social media content, and more in Adobe Photoshop.
